Teen Girl Told To Leave Rue 21 Because She is ‘Too Big To Shop There’ On Her Flipping Birthday

I’m rage-writing this so frgive any typ0s in advance becuz I am furyioususususususu!! OK so get this, a beautiful, adorable, 14-year-old girl named Shelby Buster was at the mall with her friend shopping on her birthday. Her mom was waiting in the food court so the girls could go shopping on their own, and COME ON, how cute is that and isn’t that something we would all do with our own daughters on their birthday? Let them wander around the mall and celebrate by spending birthday money? So the girls went into Rue 21, because Shelby wanted to buy some perfume with her birthday money on her special birthday, and according to KEZI.com:

She said they went to the Rue 21 clothing store and received a birthday surprise she never expected. ”I walked in and the lady at the front counter said hey you’re too big to be in this store, I need you to leave,” said Buster.

Buster said her friend was already in the back of the store at this point looking at perfume. ”And so she checked out and walked back and my mom came back to talk to them and they’re like oh we’re so sorry,” said Buster.

Shelby’s mom had posted this on her Facebook page:

And grrrrrrrr, I am sure mom wasn’t expecting her daughter to receive this sort of ugliness on her special day. If you hop on over to the Rue 21 Facebook page, you can see all too many people are also unhappy with the treatment Shelby received.

I think they need to change their store name to RUDE21.

I hope the store apologizes. Even better, I hope other stores in the same mall shower Shelby with gift cards and invite her to go shopping in their places of business. I at least know one place I will never shop at. Shame on them for being so rude to Shelby. We have enough issues with teen girls and self image as it is. I hope the rest of her birthdays are much better and that she realizes this store employee is just an idiot and Shelby is beautiful and fine just the way she is. I want to take her out shopping and buy her cake. I hope this is where tons of retailers who carry her size invite her to their stores and give her a wonderful shopping experience.
