TGIF Open Thread: Okay, Let’s Discuss ‘Serial’
We received an email from a commenter asking for an Open Thread on Serial, and we were more than happy to oblige because HOLY F, GUYS. A bunch of your Mommyish writers are Serial junkies (*waves*) and, with just one episode left, there’s still so much to discuss and pick apart and contemplate and obsess over and and and.
For those not yet listening: Serial is an incredibly popular podcast produced by This American’s Life‘s Sarah Koenig. It tells the story about a young, bright, high school student, Hae Min Lee, who was murdered in Baltimore in 1999. Her ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was found guilty and is serving a life sentence for the crime.
For further digging: Slate does a podcast ABOUT the podcast, which you can check out here. And the Reddit forum is, well – it’s what you’d imagine it to be. This Flavorwire piece brings up an important point about how Hae has been featured and portrayed on Serial.
For those who are listening and addicted, let’s discuss. For those not yet listening – go go go and come back when you’re caught up!
