Mama June Tells ‘Her Side Of The Story,’ Which Is Just As Awful As Every Other Side
This story keeps devolving into a bigger and bigger mess. Her daughter Anna came forward this week with a claim that sister Pumpkin — the second youngest daughter of Shannon — thinks her father is child molester, Mark McDaniel. McDaniel is the man who molested Anna. Mama June wanted to tell “her side of the story,” so she went on Entertainment Tonight to report that Pumpkin’s father isn’t McDaniel. Her father is a different sex offender, Anthony Michael Ford. He served time for sexual exploitation of minors after being caught on To Catch a Predator in 2005.
She says she kept Pumpkin’s real father from her because McDaniel was the only father figure she ever knew:Â “Since two months to almost six years, she knew nobody but him,” Shannon explained. “She was starting to resent Anna and she was starting to ask me questions. I can’t answer those questions for Pumpkin.” So she raised her daughter to believe a man who was convicted of raping her sister was her father. I can’t even wrap my brains around this level of stupidity.
Shannon says she’s only been seen with McDaniel because she’s been arranging meetings for him and Pumpkin so Pumpkin could get “closure” and hear from McDaniel that he isn’t her father. Shannon is so beyond screwed up that she doesn’t even seem to realize how horrific that is. Pumpkin was present on several occasions when McDaniel molested Anna, as court documents have shown. Shannon claims she never read the documents. Well, good for you. The rest of us have, and they’re beyond horrifying. She should honestly be forced to read those, to see what her daughters went through, with a man she so flippantly allows to enter their life again. Unbelievable.
Stop trying to clear your name, Shannon. The only move left for you is to apologize to your daughters profusely for repeatedly putting them in danger, to beg Anna to forgive you for not believing her, and to get all of your children the therapy they need to come away from this without mountains of pain and baggage.
