Kate Hudson Gets Reamed for Calling Her C-Section ‘Laziest Thing I’ve Ever Done’
Kate Hudson recently did an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine, and that seems fine, right? Celebrities do fluff interviews all the time. What can possibly go wrong? Well, you’d be surprised! The interview asked a series of seemingly benign questions, like the last picture she took on her phone and what she does for “me time”. But it was a question about the laziest thing she’s ever done that poked the hornet’s nest known as the internet. Ask me that question, and my answer would probably be the time I ate chips off my baby’s head while I nursed her so I didn’t have to get up. Kate Hudson’s answer was a little, um, surprising.

“The laziest thing I’ve ever done: Have a c-section!”
Now, a lot of things pop into my head when I think “lazy”. Skipping brushing my teeth to sleep 3 more minutes? Yep. Teaching the 7-year old how to pour cereal and milk for her AND her sister? Absolutely. Getting cut open to have a baby taken out? Eh, not so much!
Predictably, moms on the internet were mad. In Kate’s defense, moms on the internet have a hair-trigger with this kind of stuff. But it didn’t take long for the pitchforks to come out.
Dear #KateHudson -My son & I would be dead if I didn't have a c-section.Keep your "lazy" comments to yourself, it's offensive & ill informed

Something tells me Kate Hudson wasn’t implying that ALL c-sections are lazy, but what do I know?
#katehudson, maybe your c-section was the decision of a lazy #hwood type but they are lifesaving for most moms and baby. You really are dumb

Personal insults are always the best way to get your point across.
While plenty of people took offense to what Kate said, there were those who seemed to understand that she was speaking of her own decision. And not, you know, making a blanket statement about all women.
Most C-sections are not a choice hers was so get over yourself! Her opinion her choice. #respect #katehudson. #crazypeople

#KateHudson: C-section laziest thing SHE'S ever done. She didn't say other women who've had them were lazy or that it was a lazy procedure.

Kate has spoken about what led to her c-section with son Ryder, and while we can’t totally relate because the paparazzi doesn’t care about us, it sounds…understandable? Kate said she was having contractions 2-5 minutes apart, but nothing was happening. Her doctor said she could go home, “but it was such a pain in the butt to get to hospital because we were being stalked by photographers. We went in at midnight and I was like: ”˜I am not going home. I just don’t want to do this again. Let’s just have a C-section.’ And so I got drugged up.” Sounds like Kate made the best decision for her circumstances! Funny, that.
It’s easy to get riled up about something a celebrity says. Especially when that particular issue is a sore spot for you. But it’s also important to remember that THEY WEREN’T TALKING ABOUT YOU. Maybe Kate Hudson really does consider her c-section a lazy choice! I’m sure that doesn’t mean she doesn’t appreciate that it was likely the best decision she, and many other women, have to make. Or that c-sections are sometimes necessary and oftentimes life-saving. It just means Cosmo asked her a silly question, and she gave a sort of silly answer. I think we can stand down on this one, moms of the internet. But don’t worry, I’m sure another celebrity will say something we don’t agree with again very soon!
