Country Star Jason Aldean Insults Kim Kardashian’s Baby Name, and Her Fans Are Not Here for It

Country singer Jason Aldean is best-known for albums like Old Boots, New Dirt, and songs like “Big Green Tractor” and “She’s Country,” and for being married to former American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr, with whom he is expecting a new baby. When people we’ve heard of are expecting babies, we tend to get very excited about the potential names the couple could be thinking of using. Did you hear Amal Clooney named her twin babies Ella and Alexander? So classy! And Zooey Deschanel named her little girl Otter, which is so on-brand that we should have predicted it nine months beforehand. Well we don’t know what Aldean and Kerr are going to name their baby, but we know for sure he doesn’t like the name “North West,” because he totally told everybody.

Entertainment Tonight asked Aldean what names he and Kerr were considering for their upcoming baby, and he said, “it won’t be something crazy like a direction,” which seemed like a pretty clear wink towards Kanye West and Kim Kardashian and their daughter, North West.

“It will be something unique and different. Nothing crazy like a direction — East, West, North, South — none of that stuff,” Aldean said.

Kimye fans were not thrilled with the implied insult to little North, and according to SheKnows they lashed out at Aldean and Kerr to call them “Hillbillies” and point out that the couple got together when Aldean allegedly cheated on his wife with Kerr.

That said, Aldean wants something “unique.” His name is Jason and his wife’s name is Brittany, and they consider those names to be pretty common, and they want something more unconventional for their baby. Unconventional, but not “crazy” like North.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are most likely too busy to respond to the public critique of their baby name, and it’s not like it’s the first time they’ve heard it, either. But weird thing is that while Aldean might think naming a child North is “crazy,” he has two young daughters named Keeley and Kendyl, so it actually seems like his taste in baby names is distinctly Kardashian in character. One can’t help but imagine his new baby could wind up with a name like Kymme or Kortnee or maybe Kloeeeeeeeeeie (pronounced Chloe).
