Girl Has Leg Reattached Backwards So She Can Dance and I’m Not Crying, You’re Crying

Well, this is the feel-good story I needed to hear today! 7-year-old Amelia Eldred of Tamworth, England has already endured more than any child should have to go through. Amelia was diagnosed with bone cancer in her left leg last year, and had surgery to amputate the limb. But Amelia wasn’t going to let that stop her, no way. The darling girl loves to dance, and was afraid losing her leg would put an end to her dreams. But doctors Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, in Birmingham, wanted to help her keep those dreams alive. They performed a rare procedure called a rotationplasty, where they reattached the lower part of her leg backwards. This allows the ankle joint to work as a knee joint, and means that Amelia will one day be able to be fitted for a prosthetic limb so she can dance once again. Tears, all over my face.

Amelia Eldred is one very brave little girl, and all she wants to do is dance. So her doctors made that possible.

Amelia was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her left femur in August 2017. She underwent chemotherapy, then had her left leg amputated to fight the disease. Bur Amelia has dreams, big ones, and she wanted to make sure that she was still able to achieve them. So her doctors reattached the lower part of her limb, but they attached it backwards. So now her ankle joint will act as a knee joint, making it possible to be fitted with a prosthetic limb.

Talk about medical miracles! Seriously, advancements in medicine have done so much to improve the lives of people. Just look at her smile. People on Twitter were blown away by her story.
