‘No One Treats Me As Well As I Treat Myself,’ Adele’s Lovely Sentiment For Girls

Watching your children obsess over people in the media can be a bit nerve-wracking as parent. While your child may seek to emulate their favorite heroine or actress or personality in all ways, it’s only a matter of time before their personal life and choices come spilling out before the press in ways that will be all over your television. And if Miley Cyrus getting tattooed isn’t enough to garner your interest, think back to all the little girls who watched Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan continue to fall a part all over magazine covers. That’s why when a young starlet or media somebody in the eyesight of children says something golden, it’s worth recognizing especially in front of kids.

Songstress Adele is featured on the October cover of British Vogue and addition to discussing weight stigmas with the publication, she also had this lovely sentiment to share about being a single 23-year-old:

”I do get massively distracted when I’ve got someone in my life, which I can’t afford to do right now. Besides, no one treats me as well as I do.”

Considering how many tween and teen girls consider their existence meaningless without some kind romantic acknowledgement (and adult women for that matter), Adele’s comment is a wonderful reminder that not all young ladies need someone on their arm to be happy — or even successful. The fact that this young woman speaks frankly about treating herself well, particularly in the context of romantic entanglements, gives mothers perhaps one less reason to tear the magazine from their daughter’s grasp.
