Mother Of Weiner Sex Scandal Victim Worries About Her Daughter
I was reading this MSNBC story about Paris Hilton‘s mom dabbing away tears while her daughter talked on Piers Morgan‘s show about her sex tape with Rick Solomon, and I was having trouble obtaining any sympathy for the mom. I mean, not that it wouldn’t be awful to have one’s daughter in a night-vision sex tape with one of the skeeviest men out there, but I just can’t help assign a bit of blame to dear Kathy Hilton herself. She seemed to raise her children with an eye toward what they did, in fact, become.
But I do feel bad for the mother of the woman who is tangentially related to the scandal with Rep. Athony Weiner. You know the deal — someone sent a picture of an aroused penis from Rep. Weiner’s twitter account to a lovely young college student. She was one of about 100 people he followed on Twitter and had previously joked about him being her boyfriend (she was a fan). His explanation for what happened has changed over the past few days — from hack to prank to spam to other confusing ideas — but the bottom line is he is behaving like a guilty man.
Carol Mizuguchi, the mother of the unexpected recipient of the picture, is upset. She tells the New York Post, “I’m really upset. I feel like he’s a person of power and influence, who can make a statement and make all this go away … As her mother, I’m really upset … I’m pissed off at that.”
What bothers her is that the daughter is having to endure such a major distraction during finals week. Mizuguchi said she she just asked her how she was doing and her daughter responded sarcastically, “I’m just great, mom. I feel wonderful.”
What would you do, as a mother, to a girl who found herself involved in such an unfortunate situation?
