1297405472903_SMALL_BOXWhile 19-year-old Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev is still at large, we’re still learning details regarding his deceased brother, 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev. Although the brothers’ uncle has been pretty vocal about the family’s reaction, another aunt currently living in Canada has also volunteered some facts about her nephews. Specifically that Tamerlan was a father and a husband.

A reporter for the Toronto Sun claims to have spoken with 45-year-old Maret Tsarnaev living in Etobicoke. Like Ruslan Tsarni, she maintains that she has not seen her nephews in five years. But she is nevertheless convinced that they have been framed, that they aren’t capable of the crimes they are suspected of.

Maret told reporter Jenny Yuen that at some point Tamerlan dropped out of school. He was married and is survived by his wife and a 2-year-old daughter. She adds that, to her knowledge, neither Tamerlan nor Dzhokhar have any military background or training. Maret is still grasping that she has lost her nephew:

“These two boys, all they must have in their heads at this age is love,” she said. “I cannot believe Tamerlan is dead. This cannot be true.”

The suspects’ mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaev, has also said that she believes that “this is a setup” against her sons.

The suspects’ father has spoken with Russian journalists, also asserting that he believes his sons were framed. He has been questioned by Russian authorities and has been released.
