Kelsey Grammer & Wife Welcome Daughter – And Open Up About Losing Her Twin Brother
Kelsey Grammer and his wife Kayte announced the birth of their daughter yesterday. Faith Evangeline Elisa Grammer was born on Friday the 13th at 1am. Happily, both mom and little one are doing well. But the Grammers took this exciting time to open up about the mixed blessings of this pregnancy. While they didn’t talk about it at the time, little Faith had a twin brother who was lost earlier in the pregnancy.
”We were ecstatic earlier this year, when we announced that Kayte was carrying twins. Tragically we lost the little boy shortly thereafter. This was not something we cared to make known publicly at the time. It was unspeakably painful and we know that people will understand our desire to keep the news private then, as we know they will respect our privacy in this matter now.”
”A glorious birth with a lingering sadness is ours today. We choose to celebrate the life that has been given us. We proudly introduce our Faith to the world today looking forward to the days ahead and the children yet to come.”
The couple also suffered a miscarriage in 2010, which had to make it even more terrifying for them during this pregnancy. I cannot imagine the fear and sadness a mother would go through after losing one twin and them carrying on through the rest of the pregnancy. I’m not sure that anyone who hadn’t experienced such an emotional roller-coaster could really understand.
The tragedy they’ve had to endure makes me even more excited for the couple and their new daughter. Their thoughtful but positive attitude is so heart-warming.
We hear lots of celebrity pregnancy stories around here. We hear plenty of actresses, musicians and models discuss whether they think epidurals or natural is the way to go, whether water birth would work, and if the event should be publicized. We forget that every little baby born is something to be thankful for in its own right. Sometimes the details don’t matter. I think this is one celeb birth that reminds us of that.
Congratulations to the Grammer family. Hopefully mom, dad and baby girl are getting a little well-deserved rest after the labor process and getting ready for the fun ahead.
