Jay-Z Vows Never To Say ‘Bitch’ Again Thanks To Blue Ivy

UPDATE: Jay-Z says his poem denouncing the word “bitch” was “fake.”

We all know that parenthood changes a person – usually for the better. In Jay-Z‘s case, the birth of his daughter Blue Ivy Carter means he’ll be toning it down on the song front. The world-renown rapper says he’ll never use misogynistic lyrics again now that he’s father to a precious baby girl – and that includes the word “bitch.”

Jay-Z made the announcement on his website via poem. “Before I got in the game, made a change, and got rich/I didn’t think hard about using the word bitch/I rapped, I flipped it, I sold it, I lived it/Now with my daughter in this world I curse those that give it,” he writes in the poem.

And, later, this: “No man will degrade her, or call her name. I’m so focused on your future, the degradation has passed. I wish you wealth, health and insight. Forever young you may pass. Blue Ivy Carter, my angel.

While many applaud Jay-Z for his newly discovered maturity, others think he’s a fool for waiting this long to show some respect to the opposite sex; they question why Beyonce – or his very own mother – weren’t reason enough to ban the b-word.

Last week, Jay-Z released a track called “Glory,” also dedicated to his little girl and featuring her sweet newborn cries. The song went on to enter the Billboard Chart at Number 74, and Blue Ivy Carter, who’s officially credited on the track, became the youngest person ever to be credited on the US Billboard chart (!).

But back to the poem… the hypocrisy of Jay-Z calling other people’s daughters bitches all this time is not lost on anyone. But then again, better late than never, right? Either way, it all just seems like yet another attention-grabbing tactic. I mean, the poem is nice and all, but is nothing sacred? I think I’m finally over it.
