Your Dishwasher Stopped Working Because Your Detergent Stopped Working

You may have noticed that your dishwasher stopped working as well as it used to. Maybe in the last year or last few months. It’s something people have been talking about nationwide and it has nothing to do with your dishwasher. It’s the detergent that’s the problem.

As reported by Jonathan Last in The Weekly Standard, dishwasher detergent manufacturers changed their formulas under pressure from environmentalists. Which has basically made the detergent ineffective. Phosphorous is was a key ingredient because it strips food and grease off of dishes and breaks down calcium based stains. It keeps dirt from reattaching to dishes and it prevents the grime from gumming up your dishwasher. Dishwasher detergents used to be about 8 percent elemental phosphorus. Now they’re less than 0.5 percent.

Our dishwasher is now mostly worthless so we’re just scrubbing our dishes by hand. Others, apparently, are more ingenious. They’re just flat-out purchasing trisodium phosphate. In a box. And check out the “Frequently Bought Together” items listed below:

This item: Savogran 10621 Trisodium Phosphate (TSP) by Savogran $3.29
Finish Glass Magic Dishwasher Performance Booster: 16 OZ by Reckitt $6.96 ($0.35 / oz)
Lemi Shine, Dishwater Detergent Additive, Super Concentrated, 12 oz (2 Pack). by Lemi Shine $11.99

Forget the meth clinics, I bet you could get a ton of money mixing these items on the black market!

I might have found my path to financial freedom.
