Willow Smith Keeps Quite The Lady Company At New York Fashion Week

The front rows at New York Fashion Week are known for being a who’s who of the rich, famous and stylish. So I suppose it shouldn’t be quite so surprising to see movie star spawn and fashionista Willow Smith looking right at home in the front row of Michael Kors‘ Autumn/Winter 2013 show. Still, we at Mommyish couldn’t help but marvel at how grown-up this 12-year-old looked. And what great company she’s keeping.

Willow attended the show with her mom, Jada Pinkett-Smith. The duo looked awfully comfy next to Zoe Saldana, Hilary Swank, and Michael Douglas (not pictured). I’m trying to imagine my 12-year-old self sitting around with Michael Douglas and acting like it was no big deal at all. It’s simply impossible. To be fair, the daughter of movie stars has probably had plenty of time to practice her composure around famous people.

Still, it’s not just that Willow Smith isn’t some tween fan girl. This young lady doesn’t look like a tween in any way. Next to a rather distinguished collection of women, Willow still looks put-together and mature. She looks like she belongs. Can we mention again that this girl is 12 years old? Like, middle-school-aged.

Will and Jada have been very open about their permissive parenting tactics. She famously responded when people asked why she let Willow cut her hair:

”I made a promise to endow my little girl with the power to always know that her body, spirit and her mind are HER domain.

”It’s also a statement that claims that even little girls have the RIGHT to own themselves and should not be a slave to even their mother’s deepest insecurities, hopes and desires.”

Given Willow’s ability to choose exactly what she wants to wear, I suppose it only makes sense that she would attend fashion shows with her mother. This tween makes decisions for herself.

One thing is for sure, Jada’s parenting has created one incredibly mature young woman. And having pals like Zoe Saldana couldn’t hurt anyone.
