Tricking Catcallers Into Harassing Their Own Mothers Is The Best Thing TV Has Ever Done

Screen Shot 2015-01-26 at 11.15.17 AMPeruvian TV, you’re my new favorite.

A TV show in Peru has done the impossibly awesome: it tricked cat-callers into harassing their own mothers. You know that saying, “What if it was your own mother?” Well, a few men in Lima now know what that’s like on the real.

Whistling At Your Mother, the new show that should strike fear in the heart of every cat-caller the world over, is like “Extreme Makeover, Harassment Edition.” The show found men who are known to harass women on the street, put their mothers in disguise, and then had the women walk past their sons to see if they would get a reaction.

The result is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

The kick ass woman who hosts the show says that in Lima, seven out of ten women report being harassed on the streets. That fucking sucks, so she decided to tackle the problem in a new way. And God bless the mothers who agreed to take part in this; I’m not a big fan of exploiting people’s personal issues on national TV, but I have a hard time hating this concept. If these men are habitual offenders, then maybe humiliating them on TV is the best thing for them.

Watch the video and see what you think. I’m especially fond of the one where a man tells his mother she has “tasty panties.”

You have to love the men’s reactions, too. “It wasn’t me!” “I’m not like that!” Wrong. It was and you are.
