Parents Who Decided To Be Good Parents And Get Second Opinion On Baby’s Health Get Their Baby Taken Away By CPS

CPS1Police, CPS, and Sutter Memorial Hospital are being awfully mum about a situation in which a 5-month-old baby was forcibly removed from his parents’ home in Sacramento  Their crime? They claim that they were just trying to get their son the best possible care they could.

Ksdk.com reports that baby Sammy was admitted to Sutter Memorial Hospital for flu symptoms. But parents Anna Nikolayev and her husband Alex found that care to be pretty subpar. According to Anna, the nurses didn’t even know what the flip they were doing to her son. Cue hulk mom:

…one day Anna asked why a nurse was giving her son antibiotics.

“I asked her, for what is that? And she’s like, ‘I don’t know.’ I’m like, ‘you’re working as a nurse, and you don’t even know what to give to my baby for what,'” Anna explained.

According to Anna, a doctor later said Sammy shouldn’t have been on the antibiotics.

Sammy was reportedly diagnosed with a heart murmur and has been receiving routine care from Sutter ever since. But once he was transferred to pediatric ICU for his pesky flu, doctors started throwing around the words “heart surgery.” Since this recommendation is coming straight from the doctors who don’t exactly have strong communication with their nurses, Sammy’s parents went doctor shopping elsewhere.  And this is where the couple slipped up.

An argument reportedly ensued between Sammy’s mother and the medical staff over getting that second opinion. She then took him from the hospital without a “proper discharge,” taking her son over to Kaiser Permanente. Turns out if you do that, you have some people in uniform to answer to:

“The police showed up there. They saw that the baby was fine,” Anna said. “They told us that Sutter was telling them so much bad stuff that they thought that this baby is dying on our arms.”

Medical records from the doctor treating Sammy at Kaiser Permanente said the baby as clinically safe to go home with his parents. The doctor added, “I do not have concern for the safety of the child at home with his parents.”

“So police saw the report from the doctors, said, ‘okay guys, you have a good day,’ and they walked away,” Anna said.

But the following day, police and CPS returned, allegedly physically assaulted Sammy’s father:

“I was pushed against the building, smacked down. I said, ‘am I being placed under arrest?’ He smacked me down onto the ground, yelled out, ‘I think I got the keys to the house,'” Alex said.

Then police let themselves inside.

Sammy was taken away and is in protective custody at Sutter Memorial Hospital where his parents were allowed to visit with him for an hour last week. The family has a hearing on the books to make their case for why they opted for the no formal discharge of their baby route.
