Substitute Teacher Learns A Hard Lesson After Asking Fourth Graders For Love Advice

substitute teacher fired for asking students for love advice A substitute teacher in the Bronx has been fired after she did something so horrific, so unspeakable, so amazingly inappropriate that ANY parent would be totally correct in being furious about this: she asked the students she was teaching that day for love advice.

Cassandre Fiering, 45, was fired by the city, after she asked her class of five students which of two men she should continue dating. The rest of the students in the class were on a field trip. The allegations are truly terrifying, and we can break them down incident by incident. From DNAinfo:

Investigators say she acted out scenarios in which the kids were her and she was the boyfriends. She complained that the younger boyfriend, a mechanic in Rhode Island, didn’t return her phone calls, according to the report.

Students told investigators she called them her ”munchkins” and asked her to toilet paper the mechanic’s home, according to the report.

The report says Fiering hugged one student, tapped another on his shoulder and touched the thighs of two other students.

I can’t even imagine how traumatized these poor kids were after going through this. AWFUL!  The years and years of intensive therapy they will have to go through after being subjected to this monster teacher’s unspeakable behavior!

The NY Daily News has this quote from the teacher explaining her dangerous behavior:

”The report is blatant lies,” said Fiering, who is originally from Providence, R.I. ”We were talking about relationships, it was all theoretical. It was an all-day situation and I was in the room for seven hours without a lesson plan.”

This is a TOTAL nightmare, or you know, people could just settle the hell down and see what this is, a teacher who maybe should have just had the five students she was with that day do some math pages or read a book or color some pretty pictures.

Yeah, yeah, it wasn’t the smartest choice that Fiering made, but she had no lesson plan, and BIG WHOOP. I hate to break it to everyone, but kids find adults asking them for advice to be one of the most fun things ever. Sure, it sounds like a waste of learnin’ time, but I just don’t see this as being that scandalous or damaging to these special snowflake’s psyches. A teacher hugged a kid? OH NO! There are teachers in this world who are abusive and mean and racist and unkind and evil, and this teacher just sounds like she was being a goofball with the kids.

Fiering told investigators she did not inappropriately touch any student and couldn’t remember if she hugged one of them, the report says.

Fiering told DNAinfo that she did talk to the students about her romantic life but the conversation was harmless and done in fun.

”The kids were saying, ”˜Oh, we’re your counselor,’” Fiering recalled. ”They were excited to have me listen to their advice. ”¦ They were saying all kinds of things, trying to help me because this guy was being a jerk to me.”

”It was also G-rated,” she added. ”I certainly wasn’t talking about sex or anything.”

I can see being irate about this if it were one of my kid’s daily teachers and this is how class time was spent every day. We all want teachers to actually teach our kids. But considering this was a substitute and that there were only five kids in the class and the allegations just don’t sound so traumatizing. Fiering is appealing the firing.
