Netflix Announces the Start of Production for ‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 With a Behind-the-Scenes Video

It’s almost time to head back to The Upside Down! Well, “almost”. The first two seasons of Netflix’s smash hit Stranger Things hooked us, and we’ve all been anxiously awaiting to see what happens next. This is the problem with TV-on-demand: we want it NOW. NOW NETFLIX! Well, turns out, we won’t have to wait too much longer. The streaming service announced that production for Stranger Things season 3 has started. And they gave us a little taste of what’s going down with some behind-the-scenes footage.

If you haven’t seen season 2 yet, this post contains spoilers! It’s hard to tell if Stranger Things season 3 will answer some of the questions we have, but we’re excited to find out.

When we left off, Bob was dead, Barb’s family finally accepts her death, and Eleven seals off the gate to the underworld. Or … did she? The monster was seen looming over the middle school, suggesting that the Hawkins kids aren’t quite done with that bastard yet. It was a good season! Questions were answered and loose ends wrapped up. But it left just enough mystery to keep us chomping at the bit for season 3.

So will Stranger Things season 3 give us even more answers? Hard to say. But it WILL have our favorite Hawkins residents, and a few new faces.

Cary Elwes has been cast as sleazy politician Mayor Klein, and Jake Busey joins the cast as a journalist for The Hawkins Post. Maya Hawke will play Robin, “‘an alternative girl who is equal parts sharp and playful,’ who discovers some of Hawkins’ dark secrets.” Fun fact: Maya is the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke.

Stranger Things season 3 went into production on April 20, and the teaser Netflix released shows a table read. So it’ll probably be some time still before we see any clips or trailers. But no matter what ends up happening this season, we’re in for the ride.
