Shocker: Porn Star Stormy Daniels Is Just Like Any Other Mom

Guys, I really thought I was going to have an action-packed story to share with you all. I saw that Stormy Daniels, a well-known adult film actress, gave an interview all about the challenges of balancing her particular career with motherhood. I thought maybe there would be some super fun incite or crazy stories to share. We could all giggle and say, “That silly Stormy.” Maybe there would be a little controversy spurred on by conservative in-laws who aren’t exactly “fans” of the mother’s day job.

You know what I didn’t expect from Stormy’s interview? I didn’t expect to be bored. And maybe that’s why this single interview was so important.

A porn star, for all that her career might seem scandalous or risque to some, is really just like any other woman. And when it comes to having children, she’s just like any other mom. She tries to find flexible work, to spend as much time with her child as possible. She worries about preparing her little girl for what can be a very cruel world. (Obviously in this aspect, she has some real concerns to address and to consider when it comes to her daughter dealing with criticism because of her profession.) She deals with the sleepless nights of the toddler years.

The author of the interview, Kristin Battista-Fraze, does a lot to emphasize the many ways that Stormy Daniels is just like any other mom.

Since their daughter’s birth, Daniels and Crain’s life has become like that of many typical families. ”No one would ever know that we have this whole other existence together,” Daniels says. ”We have this smart, amazing, beautiful daughter that is awesome. The three of us go to Gymboree class for music. He (Crain) is great with our daughter because he has no problems doing anything with her that I do. He will take her to the bathroom in a restaurant and change a dirty diaper.” Daniels describes a typical day at home like this: ”We get up and watch Sesame Street every morning. I make her breakfast, and we hang out and are goofy for a while. Then we go out and run errands. I try to do something fun with her every day. I just consider myself to be especially blessed, and people who knock porn, well, it affords me to be with my daughter.”

The interesting part of this piece isn’t that they watch Sesame Street. It’s that they have to go to such lengths to prove that they are just like everyone else. As if working in the adult film industry might mean that the couple was somehow unfit or not capable to raise a child just like every other set of parents. As we’re all expecting something wild and crazy.

I have to admit, when I first saw that the interview, I thought that’s what I might get. I thought I might hear wild and crazy stories, because in my mind, why else would we need an explanation of the day-to-day life of Stormy Daniels and her daughter. But I was forgetting that the stereotypes surrounding her industry are what make it imperative that she show not the crazy parts, but the boring parts. She has to combat the prejudices that her career choice brings.

Stormy Daniels sounds like a perfectly lovely woman and mother. Her interview was perfectly boring. And while I’m disappointed that it doesn’t make for an action-packed story, I can understand why she needed to show the world just how boring her life can be.
