3-Year-Old Girl Missing After Being Left Outside by Her Father as Punishment
A 3-year old girl in Texas is missing after being forced to stand outside alone in the middle of the night by her father, after she wouldn’t drink her milk. The girl, Sherin Mathews, was last seen at around 3 a.m. on Saturday by her father, Wesley. Wesley had forced Sherin to stand outside as punishment for not drinking her milk. When he returned 15 minutes later, she was gone. The girl’s mother, Sini, was home during the incident. However, she says she was unaware of what Wesley was doing.
Police weren’t called for more than 5 hours. By that time, there were no traces of Sherin Mathews.
An Amber Alert was issued Saturday afternoon, but was cancelled on Monday due to “no actionable leads”. The father was arrested and charged with child abandonment and endangerment. He was arraigned on Sunday on the endangerment charge, and a $250,000 bond was set by the judge.

Wesley told police that coyotes had been spotted in the alley behind the home, where Sherin Mathews was last seen. The house also butts up against a set of railroad tracks.
Sherin was adopted by the Mathews family from India almost 2 years ago. They also have a biological daughter, 4, who has been removed by Child Protective Services and placed in foster care.
