Say What You Will About The Obamas, They Wouldn’t Leave Their Kids Behind In A Pub

The latest British scandal is cracking me up. British Prime Minister David Cameron left his 8-year-old daughter behind after a visit to the Plough Inn pub in Cadsden. There was a mix-up after a family lunch and Cameron and his wife Samantha left in separate cars, neither of them containing their daughter Nancy. So she was left alone for about 15 minutes.

Who cares? Whose parents haven’t had such a minor mix-up, particularly when dealing with separate cars? I mean, mine didn’t, but they could have. I think they once left my sister on the roof of the car and almost drove off once, for instance. They didn’t, but it was close, you know?

And I may or may not have accidentally misplaced my toddler daughter while traveling with her and her infant sister once. I’d love to have a great story behind it but the fact is that I momentarily forgot I had two children. It was all of two minutes that this entire event happened, and she was totally fine, but still, I am pretty sure the incident took four years off of my life.

In this case, though, I’d like to brag about our superior chief executive Barack Obama, at least when it comes to leaving one’s own children behind in a pub. He may have many other problems, but I totally don’t think he and Michelle Obama would ever leave Sasha or Malia in a bar alone. America! America!

And yes, maybe this has something to do with our Secret Service. They may have handled their little “Cartagena Hooker” scandal poorly, but they are really good at not leaving children behind in bars. Yet. So we’ve got that going for us, too.

But fess up. When was the last time you accidentally forgot you were a parent, or otherwise left your child to fend for herself? Or is this just something that has happened to British Prime Ministers?
