Jonathan used to be a cheerleader
This should definitely not come as a surprise given his peppy personality, but yes, Jonathan Van Ness was once a high school cheerleader. Ever the game changer, he was actually the first male cheerleader at his school, Quincy Senior High School. Of course he would be the person to break down such barriers, given what we know about his strong personality and the way he easily subverts gender norms and stereotypes! He later attended the University of Arizona on a cheerleading scholarship (there are very few male cheerleaders) but he lost his scholarship because he didn’t like attending class. Apparently, he preferred to watch reruns of The Golden Girls! Looks like that worked out just fine for him.
