Ohio. LeBron James. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Ava and Liam. Unfortunately, Ohio is notorious for one other thing- some of the highest infant mortality rates in the States. The question many experts are trying to answer is why. It’s been found that black women in the state suffer worst of all. They experience preterm birth more than others, and in Ohio it’s as high as 17% of African American women who give birth before 37 weeks gestation. Two more factors that contribute to this huge problem is the higher than average rate of maternal smoking and diabetes.
