Object Of My Affection: Ultra Modern Dollhouse By Brinca Dada
Kids these days they really have to stop reading dwell magazine at story time.
When I was a wee sprout, my dolls lived in proper, old-fashioned Victorian dollhouses. But the uppity dolls of today aren’t happy with a little window lattice and leering butler. Oh, no, they need to be all modern and chic.
New York-based company Brinca Dada is here to rescue the aesthetic sensibilities of 3-year-olds everywhere (you know, the ones refusing to put up with the plastic atrocities found at Toys R Us).
Bennett House a townhouse that’s ”heavily influenced by the De Stijl movement of the early 20th century,” according to company website features a two-story living room, elevator and rooftop pool (naturally).
It also boasts solar-powered LED lights, and the whole thing is made of CARB-certified woods and non-toxic, lead-free paints and stains so it’s environmentally friendly and won’t poison your child if she decides to lick it.
If this $599 dollhouse is too steep for your budget, stay put ’til July. That’s when Dylan House, a simpler piece of real estate, goes up for sale. Asking price? A relative steal at $149.
