Nicki Minaj Paid off Her Fans' Student Loans Because She Can and She's Awesome

What did you do on Saturday night? Mine was pretty typical: I ate a gallon of ice cream and made some questionable purchases on Amazon. I was feeling pretty good about my night until I discovered on Sunday morning that superstar Nicki Minaj had spent her Saturday night paying off her fans’ student loans. I’d like to pretend that if I were as rich as Nicki I would do the same thing, but I’m pretty sure I would have just bought more crap on Amazon.

Nicki was tweeting about a contest she was holding for her fans when she mentioned the contest was open to everyone because she “makes enough money to fly her fans out from any country in the world.” A bold fan replied to her tweet, asking, “Well you wanna pay for my tuition?”

Most celebrities would (and do) ignore a tweet like that, but not Minaj. Instead she replied, “Show me straight A’s that I can verify with your school and I’ll pay it. Who wants to join THAT contest?!?! Dead serious. Should I set it up?”

And it turns out she REALLY WAS SERIOUS.

Nicki not only helped her fans pay off student loans and tuition, but she also helped them buy books and other equipment they needed to further their studies. So damn awesome.

After promising help to about 30 fans, Nicki told her Twitter followers that she’ll do another round of assistance in a month or two.

I’ve never thought one way or the other about Nicki Minaj before, but as of now you can count me as a fan. Not because I want her to pay off my student loans (that ship has sailed) but because she seems to truly appreciate the people who made her so rich and famous.
