Admit it, you spent a lot of time this year watching Netflix. It’s okay, so did almost everyone else. Bingeing shows on streaming is one of the few things that can simultaneously make us feel productive and lazy. For those who like to Netflix and chill  in a non-sexual way, there is no shortage of content to binge. You can watch the same shows you’ve seen a million times, or discover something you’ve never seen before. And there is a ton of Netflix original programming that could easily help you lose a few hours on a Saturday night. As 2018 draws to a close, Netflix has released their “most binged” list of Netflix original shows for the year and the show that most people are bingeing is likely not the one people expect.

Their “To All The Shows and Movies We’ve Loved Before,” list is a compilation of all things popular. Ranging from movies to shows to talent. 2018 was a big year for Netflix original content, and they know it. While they don’t give specific numbers and percentages, the numbers account for viewing between January 1st and November 28th. Their ranking for the shows that everyone was binge watching was solely based on US viewing stats.

So, what are the shows that everyone was bingeing this year?

*Hint* Queer Eye somehow is not on the list. When compiling the list, Netflix chose not to rank by views, so it’s hard to know which Netflix Original show was the one everyone was bingeing the most. Five of the Netflix original shows everyone was bingeing in 2018 include:

  1. On My Block
  2. Making a Murderer: Part 2
  3. The Haunting of Hill House
  4. Insatiable
  5. Orange is the New Black: Season 6

On My Block is a coming-of-age story that takes place in Los Angeles with a largely diverse cast. It is critically acclaimed and only a month after release, Netflix gave the go-ahead for season 2. Making a Murderer was highly anticipated, so it’s no surprise that everyone was bingeing it. And since some people love being scared, The Haunting of Hill House was a shoe-in for the list. Insatiable is a controversial choice, but maybe that’s why people were choosing to watch it.

Obviously the approximately dozen weekends I was binge watching Queer Eye aren’t enough to help it make the list. But at least they’re some of the “stars we fell in love with” for 2018. Can you believe? And bingeing season two of One Day at a Time got it a season three, but not a spot on the list.

We’re curious to see which shows we’re saying “yes, I’m still watching” to in 2019. Any guesses?
