But manicurists are not supposed to cut your cuticles at all. In fact, according to the American Academy of Dermatology, cutting cuticles can make it easier for bacteria to get inside your nails and cause infection. Many nail salons argue that it helps nail polish to look smoother and last longer on the nail. What should you do instead?
