A common misconception is that manicurists are competing against their co-workers to scoop up clients and tips. In fact, manicurists are friends with each other for the most part, not competitors. Like you and your office co-workers, nail technicians spend their off-time at work gossiping with and learning techniques from their co-workers. Sometimes, they even paint each other’s nails free of charge. As co-workers, they help each other to get more clients and hook up their friends to clients who give generous tips when they are occupied. So talking bad about another nail technician to your regular manicurist might not be a good idea after all.
