Mommyish Book List: The Best Reads For Moms And Kids On Hot Summer Days

In an era of big-box bookstores and online giants like Amazon.com, Joanne Saul and Samara Wolbohm did what many people deemed crazy: they opened an independent bookshop in downtown Toronto called TYPE Books. That was back in 2006. Five years later, the close friends both mothers with a PhD in Canadian literature  are the proud owners of two locations that house a perfectly curated selection of books, cool gift items and a fabulous kids’ section. In addition to hosting quaint book launches and author interview series, the women also run reading and writing enjoyment programs for local school kids.
