MMA Fans in the UK Stayed Up All Night to Watch a Fight, Got Peppa Pig Instead

Well, this probably wasn’t what fight fans waited up all night to watch, but it’s certainly funny in hindsight. An MMA match in the UK was cut-off by an episode of Peppa Pig, much to the chagrin of fans who stayed up all night to see the fight. Bellator 206 aired at 10 p.m. in San Jose, California. Which meant that for fans across the pond, start time was 6 a.m. So fans had to stay up all night or wake up early to catch the match. If you’re a big fight person, probably a sacrifice you would be willing to make! I do not judge, as I woke up at an ungodly hour to watch Harry and Meghan get married. We do what we have to do, you know? But at least I got to see the wedding. MMA fans got an episode of Peppa Pig, instead.

The MMA match that was set to air at 6 a.m. local time in the UK was nowhere to be found. But Peppa and Daddy Pig had a GREAT time at the playground.

Apparently, airing the fight at 6 a.m. went against programming restrictions. Which is understandable! Plenty of kids wake up at the butt crack of dawn to watch their shows. Can you imagine the outrage if Peppa wasn’t on, and kids were greeted by the sight of two men pummeling each other to pulp? Pretty sure that episode of Peppa is only available on those creepy “kids” YouTube channels.

Reactions from fight fans on Twitter were … about what you’d expect.

President of Bellator MMA Scott Coker was equally annoyed by the programming snafu. In a statement, he said, “We were trying to fix it, we thought it was a technical glitch. But it wasn’t, it was a governmental issue. I can promise you the next time it’s not going to happen”¦it’s an unfortunate situation.”

Sorry for your fight, MMA fans! But we hoped you enjoyed that Peppa Pig episode. I’ve seen, it’s a good one.
