Mark Zuckerberg and Dr. Priscilla Chan Expecting Second Child!
(Facebook / Mark Zuckerberg)
We all love happy baby announcements, especially when we can share in the joy as the news is shared across social media, which is definitely the norm these days. Well, the founder of Facebook himself made quite the splash on Facebook earlier today when Zuckerberg announced he and his wife Priscilla are expecting their second child —and they already know the gender!
“Priscilla and I are happy to share we’re expecting another baby girl!†the post reads from the 32-year-old dad and the photos accompanying were perfection and not typical images for these adorable pregnancy announcements. Instead of a super clever photo shoot, he opted for some wise and sweet words and childhood photos of himself and his wife, Dr. Priscilla Chan.
The two were very open about the struggles they faced as a couple while trying to grow their family after experiencing several miscarriages before welcoming their daughter, Max, who turned 1 in November, and they acknowledged this in their happy news.
“After our difficult experience having Max, we weren’t sure what to expect or whether we’d be able to have another child. When Priscilla and I first found out she was pregnant again, our first hope was that the child would be healthy.†He continues, “My next hope was that it would be a girl,†the post continues. “I cannot think of a greater gift than having a sister and I’m so happy Max and our new child will have each other.â€
“I grew up with three sisters and they taught me to learn from smart, strong women,†Zuckerberg adds. “They weren’t just my sisters but some of my best friends. They’ve gone on to write books, excel at performance, music, sports, cooking and their careers. They showed me how to compete and still laugh together afterwards.â€
He continues, “Priscilla grew up with two sisters and they taught her the importance of family, caring for others and hard work. They supported each other as first generation college students and in their careers in medicine and business. They have so many inside jokes — the kind only siblings can understand.â€
“We are all better people because of the strong women in our lives — sisters, mothers and friends. We can’t wait to welcome our new little one and do our best to raise another strong woman.â€
Seriously, this is such a powerful announcement and we’re overjoyed for the growing family!
