Grand Theft Auto V Was Just Released And Kids Are Already Stabbing People Over It

Hey Grand Theft Auto franchise, way to get some bad press for your violent, women-hatey video game before it’s even been out for 24 hours. During a midnight launch in London, three teenagers have been arrested after a man was stabbed and robbed of a copy of Grand Theft Auto V less than two hours after buying the game. How amazingly awful is that? From The Independent Co.Uk:

The victim was targeted after he left an Asda store just an hour and 20 minutes after the game went on sale.

He was hit with a brick, stabbed and stripped of his mobile phone, watch and his copy of Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) during the attack on Princes Avenue in Colindale, north London, at around 1.20am.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “The victim had been shopping and was on his way home when he was hit with a brick.

“He was then stabbed and robbed.”

The man is recovering in hospital where he is said to be in a stable condition.

At least the victim is recovering and in okay condition. Who knows if the teens targeted this guy because he had a copy of the game, but considering they stole the game I think it’s safe to say that they may have planned to rob a store customer. I’m sure this won’t be the last time we hear about teens doing something awful in conjunction with this, because whether or not video games contribute to violent behavior as soon as a game is associated with a crime, the conclusion will be made. I have never heard about teens stabbing anyone over the Super Mario franchise.
