It can be dangerous for people with diabetes to go through any type of surgical procedures. That is because diabetes affects the immune system and could leave your body more susceptible to infection. Diabetes can also cause poor circulation throughout the body. Therefore, you should only get lip injections if your diabetes is well controlled. This can be done by checking a patient’s hemoglobin A1C levels. When a patient has high blood sugar, it is easier for them to get an infection. Therefore, someone with diabetes has to be extra careful not to get infections by swabbing the potential infection site with antiseptic. They must also take antibiotics if they already have an infection.
