Labor Pains: The Best Delivery Room Distractions

I was an hour into to my labor, with seven more to go, when my sister showed up with an enormous pink poodle. The stuffed animal was literally huge and hysterical. My sister plopped it across the room and told me that it was my focal point. That poodle now sits in the corner of my daughter’s bedroom. It’s still larger than she is. And if I ever have another child, that puppy is making its way to the hospital all over again.

I don’t think I can explain why that poodle meant so much to me. But I still laugh when I think about it being marched into the room. That’s the mark of a great delivery room distraction. Here are some more to try out. Don’t forget to share your tips in the comments. [ITPGallery]
