Kim Kardashian Tied Up and Robbed at Gunpoint by Criminals Dressed as Police

Last night Kanye West was performing a concert in L.A. when he suddenly stopped the show mid-song, announced to the audience that he was sorry and there was a “family emergency” and he had to stop the show, and rushed off the stage. Some disappointed audience members said, “What the fuck?!” but the general consensus on social media at the time seemed to be that everyone was saying, “Oh God, I hope the kids are OK!” Cancelling a show mid-song is a big deal, and that was pretty shocking, even for Kanye.

North and Saint West were OK, but news broke a couple hours later that their mother, Kim Kardashian, had just been robbed at gunpoint in the middle of the night in the Paris apartment where she was staying for Fashion Week. (Her mother and sisters were also in Paris, but they were at a hotel.)

According to Reuters, five armed robbers wearing ski masks and what looked like police uniforms got past her security at around 3 a.m. and left a night guard tied up in the stairwell before two of them broke into Kardashian’s room with guns. At that time of night, she was probably asleep when they attacked.

She told investigators they put the gun to her temple and tied her up with packing tape and left her alone on the floor of the bathroom after stealing several million dollars worth of jewelry. Fortunately, it doesn’t sound like her children were there. Kardashian’s daughter, North, has attended Paris Fashion Week with her mother in the past, but has not been photographed as part of her entourage for this trip.

The robbers made off with about $11 million worth of jewelry, including a ring worth about $4.5 million.

Kardashian’s publicist says she was “badly shaken but physically unharmed,” which is very good news. $11 million worth of jewelry is a lot, but five armed men could have done anything to her.

Kardashian is a polarizing figure, and assholes are already mocking her, because apparently some people think it’s hilarious when a woman they don’t like is robbed at gunpoint and left tied up on the floor of a bathroom, but Kardashian’s friends were quick to defend her.

Commenters on Corden’s Twitter have been sniping at him to “grow a set” because “we know what she’s famous for,” and it’s sick. Kardashian is rich, and she’s naked sometimes, and for some reason some people seem to think she deserves to be punished for that. (Some people want nothing more than to see a woman naked, then to punish her for the nakedness. It’s disgusting.)

Kardashian reportedly left Paris on a private plane as soon as she was finished talking to the police. She’s probably back with her husband and kids now.
