Katy Perry’s Parents Address Her Divorce With Their Congregation

Katy Perry with her parentsRemoval containers have reportedly been spotted up Katy Perry and Russell Brand’s home in the Hollywood Hills, as the former couple has wasted no time in getting this split underway. But while the possessions are being divided and there is talk of a settlement, Katy’s devout parents took their daughter’s 14-month marriage to their church-goers.

Mary and Keith Hudson, both 63, spoke to about 300 people in a 90 minute sermon — their first since their daughter’s divorce went public. The Sun reports that Keith got teary-eyed as he spoke about his unconditional love for his daughter in her time of need. He told the congregation that despite her divorce, he will not be closing his door to his little girl:

“I love my daughter and I will always love her. Stop being judgmental and critical. Do not close the doors to your loved ones, especially your children. Just because they do not like what you do or what you are, they are still praying that you stay in the race. They are counting on you. I believe in God, for every one of my children.”

Katy may not have wanted to disappoint her parents with news of her crumbling marriage, but it looks like the pop singer still has the support of her faith and her family in her time of need.
