Katie Holmes Perhaps Taking Her Faith As Far From Scientology As Possible — To The Catholic Church
In further speculation that Katie Holmes divorced Tom Cruise in an effort to save Suri Cruise from the gaping jaws of Scientology, the single mommy is shopping new faiths. Or rather, old ones. The Ohio-born actress is reportedly returning to her family’s Catholic faith on the heels of the fastest divorce settlement ever.
People reports that Katie registered as a parishioner at the Church of St. Francis Xavier, which they describe as “a progressive Catholic church” not too far from her new apartment in New York City. Neither anyone from Team Katie or St. Francis Xavier has confirmed the news, and there’s no incentive to. The last thing freshly divorced Katie needs upon joining a parish is heading to worship with a flood of photographers behind her, camping out between the aisles. Goodness knows the folks over at Whole Foods probably already despise her just for doing a little post-divorce grocery shopping.
No word at all on whether Suri will be joining her mother as she returns to her childhood faith or if Katie is going solo in search of some spiritual solace. Either way, perhaps St. Francis Xavier would do well to call upon some higher power to keep the paparazzi from entering those sacred doors.
