Johnson & Johnson Recalls Aveeno Baby Lotion

Johnson & JohnsonMore trouble for Johnson & Johnson as there were claims not too long ago that the classic orange bottle of baby shampoo caused cancer. Only a month into the new year and another product is on recall: Aveeno Baby Calming Comfort Lotion.

Reuters reports that US regulators discovered “excessive” amounts of bacteria in one lot of the product. The company is now recalling over 2000 tubes of said baby lotion despite that the risk to infants is “remote.”A test by the FDA found that the Aveeno lotion “exceeded the specifications for common bacteria” for products in the United States. However, Johnson & Johnson maintains that after their own independent testing, the product did not exhibit any excessive bacteria. Terribly suspect, of course.

The Washington Post reports that lotion tubes are specifically being recalled from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas. No illnesses have yet to be reported.

This brand may be synonymous with traditional baby care, but two health-related problems in less than two years is more than enough to become distrustful of this company’s quality control.
