The country made it through midterm elections this week, and much of the news has been dominated by the results. While it was an historical election for a lot of reasons, it was also highly contentious. Several important races remain undecided at this point, and it seemed to further divide an already divided country. Plenty of celebrities joined in the campaigning this year, endorsing their favorite candidates and sharing their “I Voted” stickers on social media. But some celebrities did a bit more than that. Turns out, a member of the Duggar family actually ran for office on Tuesday, and he actually won! John-David Duggar, second oldest Duggar son and twin brother of Jana Duggar, was on the ballot in for constable of Washington County, Arkansas. Funnily enough, he was actually running for reelection. Who knew?!

We’re used to the Duggar family being in the news for something related to their TV show or controversial ways. But John-David Duggar flipped the script on us.

If you’re a big Duggar fan, you might have known that John-David Duggar has been the constable of Washington County for five years. We … had no idea. Our Duggar knowledge is pretty limited to what we mentioned above. So it might not surprise a lot of people to know he was up for reelection. Most of the rest of us found out, however, when sister Jill Duggar Dillard mentioned voting for him in an Instagram post.

In the caption Jill says, “So I was explaining the whole voting process to Israel and as we were walking over with our ballot (Israel was helping carry it) to drop it in the box he tells the guy directing us, ”hey, this says we voted for John Duggar!” John-David ran as a Republican (shocker) and won 57.69% of the vote. So Jill’s vote might not have put him over the edge, but it’s still a sweet sisterly thing to do!

John-David’s political aspirations don’t come entirely out of left field, either. His dad Jim Bob Duggar ran in the 2002 Republican primary election. He was also a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives for four years. That close, personal relationship with Mike Huckabee didn’t come out of nowhere, apparently.

This has been a pretty banner month for John-David Duggar.

He married Abbie Burnett just three days before the election. Talk about piling a lot on your plate! If he follows the Duggar family path, they’ll be first-time parents in just about 10 months.

Congrats to the happy couple and newly elected constable! And pre-pregnancy announcement congrats on the soon-to-be-baby.
