If you’re a runner and a new mommy, you have probably have been counting down the days until you can go on that unencumbered circuit. Running while pregnant, while typically safe and healthy, just isn’t the same. Mostly, it’s the baby head bumping your bladder and making that feeling of an eminent pee a constant bother that’s the problem. Afterward, when cleared by your doctor, that first run can either feel like agony since your muscles are a bit different or total freedom since that baby is now on the outside.

Some women even start a running routine for the first time while pregnant, which again is generally safe as long as the pregnancy is uncomplicated. In fact, for those with gestational diabetes increased workouts can help stabilize blood sugar levels. For all ladies, regular light exercise during pregnancy and late recovery can help with symptoms like back pain and nagging fatigue. However, if you’re going to run after baby’s born, you’re going to need one thing- a jogging stroller.

Below you’ll find a rundown on what’s on the market, what you can expect to pay for both high and lower end products, and what other consumers have thought about the strollers they purchased. We’ll tell you where to find the best strollers for running with a new baby-

Evenflo Folio3 Stroll & Jog Travel System

Image: Walmart

One reviewer said this of the Evenflo stroller, “I got this stroller system about a month ago and I’m loving it. I live in a very rural area, I go for walks on trails, dirt roads and to the beach all the time and the stroller is working great. It’s super light, I have no trouble lifting it in and out of my car. It folds and unfolds in one smooth motion. The car seat easily clicks and unclicks into both the stroller and the car seat base. It looks expensive without actually braking the bank.”

The stroller, which is eligible for free two day shipping from Wal-Mart, will cost you about $250. For an additional fee, you can purchase a three to four year protection plan for the item.

Joovy Zoom 360 Ultralight Jogging Stroller

Image: Amazon

The best part about this stroller is the adjustable seat. Once a child is big enough, the seat can sit all the way up for great visibility or recline back for the tot that’s getting taken out during nap time. It also has various colors available for purchase and is claimed to help you run “straighter and truer.”

One reviewer left this on the product’s page, ” I walked 4 miles with it yesterday and today we ran 2 miles with it. Very light, easy to maneuver and great suspension!! Not to mention that large canopy which I really wanted on a stroller. I run and walk a minimum of 16 miles in 5 days, every week so, we were looking for a really good jogging stroller that was made well without breaking the bank. I definitely recommend buying this!!”

Sounds good to us!

Tike Tech CityX3 Swivel Single Stroller

Image: Walmart

This stroller seems to have it all and is another cost efficient Walmart find. At around $233, this stroller is appropriate for kiddos up to 60 lbs and infant car seat compatible. The height adjustable handle makes it so that any runner can feel comfortable behind the wheels (because having to reach up too far or crouch down during a circuit is definitely going to mess with your time). The front wheel is on a swivel, allowing a runner to make turns and quick adjustments. However, the product page doesn’t say if there’s a locking mechanism on this wheel to keep it straight, a feature many runner prefer if they’re running mostly straight, flat paths.

Schwinn Arrow Fixed Wheel Jogger Stroller – Nightshade

Image: Target

This stroller is retailed at Target for just over $200. Our favorite feature here is the bicycle style hand brake for Mom (or Dad or whoever takes the baby out for a run). In case the circuit is hilly or there’s an unexpected obstacle, there’s no reason to pull back and jerk on the stroller. Instead, the handbrake offers a way to slow down quickly, but gently. The suspension in this stroller is also supposed to be top notch, meaning the baby inside shouldn’t be jostled too much no matter how rocky or uneven the ground. It’s like a stroller all terrain vehicle!

Allen Sports J1 Premier Aluminum 1-Child Jogger

Image: Amazon

Here’s how one Amazon reviewer described this stroller- “This is a remarkably well-built jogging stroller. It’s made from a very lightweight aluminum material which makes it easy to maneuver into and out of your vehicle.

Setup was a breeze, it took only a few minutes to have this stroller unfolded, wheels locked into place, and ready to go. The wheels are super durable and will hold up under rough terrain. Which brings us to the suspension. Excellent suspension for uneven, bumpy roads, and the raised rear axle means better safety and fewer accidents for parents by allowing a full running stride!”

Allen’s made a name for themselves in bikes and their accessories. Buyers seem genuinely pleased with their purchases and, unlike other name brand products, this one won’t break the bank. The J1 is currently on sale for just over $120.

Thule Chariot Cross Sport Stroller

Image: Amazon

This pod looking stroller is the golden standard for families that fall into the ‘very physically active’ category. When it says “cross sport” it means cross sport. It is made for running, adjustable for biking, comes with skiing attachments, and, yes, is appropriate for just walking around the neighborhood. An Amazon reviewer named Melissa clarifies all the attachments the stroller comes with, saying, “It has the 2 stroller wheels. And the bike trailer kit. There is a separate jogging kit and ski kit (that can also be used for hiking).
If you aren’t speed runner the two stroller wheels are fine for jogging. I’ve done 5Ks and had no issues. ”

All this comes with a price, of course. The Chariot will empty your wallet in the amount of $802.82.

BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 Stroller

Image: Albee Baby

This stroller’s standout feature is its cargo capacity. It comes with six pockets for storing your stuff and includes a handlebar cell phone pouch. On google reviews, one customer related their stroller experience this way, “Just received this a few weeks ago! It is an absolute dream to jog with. It moves so smooth, I can push with one finger. I actually hauled all my beach stuff on it and pushed it on the beach with ease! It is overall the best jogger stroller you can buy. It even reclines and the sun shade covers my daughter so she can take a good nap while running. Highly recommend.”

The Revolution is for sale at Albee Baby where it retails for $450. Shipping for this item is free there, too.

BOB 2017 / 2018 Revolution FLEX Duallie Double Jogging Stroller

Image: Albee Baby

Also from BOB and also for sale at Albee Baby is this double jogging stroller. Like its single passenger counterpart, the Revolution FLEX ships for free. Made for mamas with twins or small children close in age, this stroller is appropriate for babies as young as eight weeks old. If you want to start running again before that and are in recovery after labor and delivery, make sure to check with your doctor.

One reviewer said this of the double stroller, “My husband and I run (him more than me…:) ) but this is PERFECT for him/us to take the kiddos running while still being not too bulky to use as a everyday stroller, for say trips to the zoo. Plenty of space for both my 4 year old and 2 year old to have room and not be pushing each other, but definitely sturdy enough I will feel safe putting the new baby in it at some point too.”

Giantex Child Trailer Bicycle Double Foldable Bike Carrier Jogger

Image: Amazon

Here’s another convenient model that can act as both a jogging stroller and a bike carrier. This one comes with double seats which the product page says can hold two children, both under the age of seven. This one, unlike the pricey earlier mentioned model, will only cost you $119.99. It’s available on Amazon where one reviewer left this- “Comfortable for the kids, smooth ride. Little bulky, but breaks down easy enough. Will need someone who is handy to install the brakes, and yes, you need them- stroller picks up pretty good momentum going downhill.” If you’re an all weather runner, it’s good to know that this edition comes with a waterproof cover, too.

Baby Trend Manta Snap Gearâ„¢ Jogger Stroller

Image: Target

The coolest thing about this stroller is that the snap in car seat can be made to be forward or rear facing or can be adjusted to sit bassinet style. One reviewer left this on Target’s product page- “I have three kids with one on the way. Right now my 2 year old sits in it and its awesome! I am looking forward to using the bassinet for my newborn! The stroller does great when pushing with just one hand which is one of the reasons I wanted to try this stroller. Also we are outdoors a lot with my other two kids soccer/baseball/basketball and no matter where I take it, it is a breeze to push! Up a grassy hill, down a lumpy lawn, no matter where I go this stroller has been amazing!”

It’s also budget friendly, coming in at $157.99.

Baby Trend Falcon Jogging Stroller

Image: Kohl’s

This stroller is available at Kohl’s and will ship to you for free since it’s over $75.00. The front wheel does have a stationary feature, so although it does swivel it doesn’t necessary have to. At Kohl’s the stroller will cost just under $170. One google reviewer said this, “Since I live in the city and take buses and trains I have always bought lightweight strollers. But since I been out of work and I started jogging I needed something comfortable for my girls and for me to stay in shape. Here is what I love about it:
Very comfortable for both my girls (the oldest is 4 and weights 42lbs and only gets on occasionally) very comfortable to push and maneuver, took it for a jog at the park and my daughter was sleeping, that’s how comfortable it is. Roomy storage, the canopy is big and moves around, reclines nicely, easy to put air in the tires.”

Allen Sports Deluxe Steel Child Trailer

Image: Amazon

Here’s another jogger by Allen Sports. This one holds one child with a max capacity of 50 lbs. It has an attached parking brake, and will run you way less than the model mentioned earlier on this list. It retails under $150 on Amazon, where is has over 500+ reviews. With all those reviews, it averages a 4.4 overall rating. One such reviewer said, “For the price, this cannot be beat. My wife and I have a 2 and 4 year old that are both on the large size for their age. They are perfectly happy when we are cruising along, but they do get fussy when we stop to check the map. We believe this is because even with the vent open, it can get warm in there when not moving, so we have to let them out if we are stopping for more than 2-3 minutes. It is a tight fit with the two in there, but even on 3-4 hour trips they seem comfortable. It pulls very well on paved trails, and pretty well over mild off road, but we haven’t tried anything extreme beyond gravel and sandy paths. We have the weight almost maxed out, and you definately feel it behind you, but isn’t bad if you go a gear or two lower on your bike.”

Dream On Me Venus Stroller

Image: Kohl’s

This stroller is available at Kohl’s, and it’s concave lower bar allows for a smooth running stride. There’ll be no mincing your steps or bashing your ankles while running behind this jogger. One reviewer had this to say about the Venus, “It is so beautiful!Great Quality Stroller.Stroller is very easy to open and close. Smooth handling with easy to turn wheels and front shocks.wonderfull stroller. love it.” It’ll cost just over $200 at Kohl’s and, again, will ship for free because it’s over $75. It does have a front swivel wheel but comes with a locking mechanism that’ll force it to roll straight.

All Terrain Baby Jogger

Image: Amazon

In February of 2019 one Amazon reviewer left this- “Everything seems like great quality for the price and we had no troubles putting it together. The only thing I don’t love is folding and unfolding it. But for a jogging stroller, it’s not that inconvenient. Love the air filled tires so I can go on different terrain but it’s also still small enough I can use it in stores and such as my everyday stroller.” It has a five point safety harness and an adjustable handlebar to make this a comfortable piece of equipment no matter how short or tall the jogger is.

Bumbleride 2018 Speed Stroller

Image: ModernNursery

This stroller is available over at ModernNursery. It’ll cost you over $550, but the style has just received a new update. It comes with special pockets for water bottles, a foot brake, and has multiple car seats that are compatible. One google reviewer left these thoughts on the product’s laurels, “This is the best running stroller I’ve owned. I’ve had two previously, a single and a double from 2 other companies, and they don’t even compare! I’m a mom of three with a newborn, an avid runner, and have finished 51 marathons. I’m very excited to use the Speed stroller to train with in 2019! ”

Baby Jogger 2016 City Mini Double Stroller

Image: Amazon

Here’s a double stroller that retails for around $430. Unlike a lot of doubles, this one has a huge payload capacity. Between the two seats, the stroller can carry up to 100 lbs. This means that the lifetime of the stroller is longer, and your chances to use it many more. One pleased reviewer said this of the City Mini, “I love this! It fits easily through doors, easier than my other strollers that supposedly have the same measurements. My twins nap in it, even without an adjustable foot rest, which I was worried about after having it on my other strollers. The recline is deep, and the seat is upright enough to please all my kids, plus it can be secured with Velcro straps to the frame to keep it very upright. The seat is sufficiently padded, although less than my 2012 single city mini gt (which kids love and I hate because it tips backwards). Given that it is not an all terrain stroller I am pleasantly surprised with the smoothness of the ride and ease of pushing. For reference my twins are about 25lb each, and my other child is 45 lb.”

Chicco Tre Stroller

Image: Target

“We have a lot of bumpy roads in my small town. I wanted to take my five week old out in the stroller and her car seat, but I was worried about the road surface being too rough to go walking. The Tre jogging stroller works much better than my other stroller. There is a lot less jostling because of the shocks and larger wheels. Also, the stroller is really easy to maneuver. This is an excellent stroller, well worth the price!” That sums up the points in the plus category for this stroller at Target. It comes with a removable seat as well, meaning that the stroller adjusts to hold a car seat while staying light weight. It’ll cost you almost $400, but judging by the reviews it’s a reliable option.
