Just when you think you’ve seen it all comes this mind-bending video from 32-year-old filmmaker-slash-animator Jeremiah McDonald. Back in 1992, when McDonald was just 12 years old, he recorded a video message to his future self. Twenty years later, he answers a young Jeremiah’s questions with some truly insightful and hilarious answers.
If it all sounds rather trippy, well, it is. I mean, how many 12-year-olds have the foresight to create such a project? (Keep in mind, this was long before we were all wired to death; the guy uses a VHS tape, for chrissakes!)
Thanks to some impressive editing and McDonald’s creative wit, you feel like you’re hearing an actual conversation between two people. The best is when an older McDonald breaks it to his younger self that the family pets have died. Another gem is when a 12-year-old McDonald asks, “What’s Internet?” Check out the video below and see for yourself. It’s just amazing!
