But it’s important to introduce them to some of the scary characters they’ll be encountering throughout October. Everywhere they look, they’ll find jack o’lanterns and skeletons, spiders and bats. The best way for me to teach my daughter about these supposedly scary friends is to read about them during our nightly story time. Once she sees just how fun these books can be, it’ll be a lot easier to run into witches and ghouls on the street in the weeks to come.
