‘Listen Up Ladies!’ Fox News Has Some Absurdly Sexist Relationship Advice For You

“Well ladies, listen up. Ladies, we’re talking to you. If you still don’t have a New Year’s resolution, could this be it? A new dating guide is offering up some honest advice on how to get a husband.” So began a Fox & Friends segment offering dating advice to women in the new year. Some male “relationship experts” that Fox News apparently dug out of a vault that had been frozen in ice since 1958 wrote a book advising women how to “bag” a husband. My god, how do all of these people get book deals? Anyone know? Anyone?

Enter a horrible graphic that says, “Men’s Brutally Honest Dating Tips For Women.” Some advice that sounds like it came straight out of the mouth of Andrew Dice Clay is superimposed over a graphic of wedding bells and diamond rings. They’ve even inserted a diamond ring where the “O” should be in “Fox News.” Their graphic design intern is doing an amazing job:

Are these excerpts from the book? I’m not even sure these men are literate, let alone in a position to give women advice about anything. The book is called, “Single Man, Married Man,” if you care, which I assure you, you shouldn’t. The tips don’t stop here, though! According to whoever these idiots are, to guarantee a successful relationship a woman should prepare her man’s meals, draw his bath, and “massage his feet every now and then.” Along with the ground-breaking advice, graphics on the screen keep changing to terrible, stereotypical catch phrases and blurbs. Like this one:

Look, there’s nothing wrong with rubbing your man’s feet and preparing his meals. People do these kinds of things for each other in relationships all the time. It’s the implication that women need to “cater” to men in order to “catch” and keep a husband. Also, the book is just filled with a bunch of garbage advice, so I’m really not surprised Fox News is featuring it as sound advice for women. Here’s another excerpt from the book, from DNA Info:

On why men lie: “It’s risky for men to be straightforward with women because the truth doesn’t always yield the results we are intending, and when we are being direct with our women, our messages can sometimes go in one ear and out the other. So lies are perpetuated to get our women to listen to us.”

Huh? How is this even advice?

So just to recap, rub your man’s feet, draw his bath, cook for him, and don’t expect him to tell you the truth. Then and only then will you “bag” a husband.
