Former CO Mayoral Candidate & Teenage Daughter Accused Of Attempting To Kidnap Baby
Here’s some strange news to start your week: a Colorado woman who ran for mayor in Colorado Springs last year has been arrested after she and her 16-year-old daughter allegedly attempting a kidnapping after drugging the baby’s mom with a cupcake. 38-year-old Juliette Parker was arrested after she, according to police reports, posted ads on a new mothers’ discussion board offering to take free portraits of newborns to grow her personal portfolio.
“She wanted a girl,” Ed Troyer of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department told CBS. “She wanted them five weeks and younger so she could raise it herself, take it out of state and pretend it was a newborn of her own.”
“I got new professional photography equipment for Christmas and would like to offer FREE newborn and/or maternity photo sessions to 4 or 5 people to build up my portfolio,” Juliette allegedly wrote in a Facebook post to the Pierce County Buy, Sell, Trade and Free Stuff group. “If you have a new baby that’s less than 14 days old or are at least 37 weeks pregnant, comment below with a pic of your cute baby or baby bump and his/her bday or your due date and I’ll select people randomly [tomorrow] and the next day.”
The post continued, “I am also looking for two or three people to do a ‘fresh 48 hours’ session for free to build my portfolio, so if you are pregnant, put in your comments if you are interested in that as well.”
According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department’s FB post, Juliette was seen wiping her fingerprints off of household items and taking selfies with the baby when the mother was not nearby. After reportedly drugging the new mom with a cupcake on February 5th and being asked to leave, she stole the woman’s house keys. Juliette was arrested nine days later south of Seattle, Washington, along with her daughter for felony kidnapping and an extra assault charge for Juliette.
The pair were held in jail for approximately 48 hours and are due to return on Tuesday, February 18th. Some have begun to speculate if the 16-year-old accessory to the crime is really Juliette’s daughter or if she was a victim of a similar scheme years ago. We’re interested to see how this court case plays out.
