20 Kick-Ass Baby Names Inspired By Comic Book Characters
Say you’re having a baby, and have begun the arduous task of naming said baby. It’s hard! For me, naming my kids was honestly one of the most difficult parts of impending parenthood. You want a good name, one that will stand the test of time, and won’t embarrass your kid down the road (well, some of you do, others not so much). But you also want something unique, and maybe kick-ass? One of the coolest places to look for baby name inspiration may be right under your nose (or on your TV screen!). Comic book character baby names are gaining steam, and judging from some of these amazing monikers, we can totally see why.
Comic book character baby names are perfect if you’re looking for something unique, but not too unique. They’re also really bad-ass. We imagine there will be A LOT of little Diana’s running around soon.

Is there a more kick-ass woman in comics than Diana? We don’t think so. The success of the film, and Gal Gadot’s protrayal of Wonder Woman, are bound to put Diana on the most popular baby name list for years to come.
Oliver, a.k.a The Green Arrow

Oliver Queen, better known as The Green Arrow, was left out of the Justice League movie. But the show Arrow on the CW is putting him into the spotlight, as he so rightfully deserves.
Harley Quinn

The character of Harley Quinn first appeared in Batman comics, and was brought to life on the big screen in Suicide Squad. She has some … issues, but who says nice girls should get all the glory? Bonus: Her first and last names work as baby names!
Lex Luthor

Continuing with the “Sometimes Bad Guys Have the Best Names” theme, we bring you Lex Luthor! Again, first OR last name will work. And fingers crossed the baby follows in better footsteps.
Lana Lang

The Smallville character is Clark’s early love interest, and one of the only people who know his true identity. In the “Superboy” comic book series, Lana is also Supergirl’s aunt. Quite the pedigree!
Clark Kent

Not sure you could really get away with naming your baby Clark, and not have people ask you if you named them after Superman. But, is that really a bad thing? He’s SUPERMAN.
Nakia

In Black Panther, Nakia is a Wakandan spy who uses her powers to help others in need. Sounds like the perfect name for a strong little girl.
Max, a.k.a Erik Magnus, a.k.a Magneto

A guy with powers like Magneto obviously needs more than one name or alias, right? Lots of good stuff to choose from here: Max, Erik, and Magnus are all amazing.
Virginia “Pepper” Potts

Pepper Potts was the love interest and trusted confidant of Tony Stark, a.k.a Iron Man. She was one of the only people he trusted enough to see him in his suits, and she definitely got his butt out of many a jam. We know who the real boss was in that relationship.
Peter Parker

Have you noticed how many comic book characters have last names that work as first names? There’s definitely a thing happening there! Peter (or Parker) is perfect for your future climber.
Mary Jane Watson

Obviously, you can’t have Peter Parker without Mary Jane Watson. Personally, I would go with Mary OR Jane, because Mary Jane means something else entirely to me, but it’s a darling name.
Remy, a.k.a. Gambit
https://www.instagram.com/p/BeEsjBQDbeN/?tagged=gambit
Remy LeBeau was abandoned at birth because of his glowing red eyes. But he has one of the COOLEST powers in the X-Men comics, so we as long as your baby isn’t born with fire eyes, you’re good to go.
Selina Kyle

I’m not sure that is gets more bad-ass than Michelle Pfeiffer as Selina Kyle in the first Batman movie. She just ooooooozes sass. The slightly different spelling is appealing too!
Charles Xavier
https://www.instagram.com/p/BeAcqDbH3aD/?tagged=professorx
Charles Xavier, better known as Professor X, is the leader and creator of the X-Men. Um, can someone say natural born leader?! Also, first and last name work, I really think I’m onto something here.
Pamela Lillian Isley, a.k.a Poison Ivy
https://www.instagram.com/p/BeEL4g2Dinl/?tagged=poisonivy
Pamela, Lillian, Lily, Ivy – so many ways to honor this eco-friendly villain with the green thumb.
Thor

Ok, so this one isn’t necessarily “inspired” by a comic book character. I mean, who isn’t going to assume you named your baby after the Marvel superhero? Unless of course you’re a big fan of Norse mythology. Either way, wicked name.
Jean Grey

Jean Gray turns into PHOENIX, ffs. I kind of want to change my name right now. Some of these comic book character baby names have me rethinking a lot of things.
Reed Richards

First name, Reed. Nickname, Mr. Fantastic. You couldn’t pick a more perfect comic book character baby name for your little boy, let’s be honest.
Veronica (or Betty!)
https://www.instagram.com/p/Bc44OGnDnF5/?taken-by=archiecomics
Idea: twin girls, one named Veronica, the other named Betty. Perfect, right? You always run the risk that your Veronica is more a Betty, or vice versa, but it’s a risk you have to be willing to take. No one said comic book character baby names were going to be easy.
And obviously, Archie or Forsythe, a.k.a Jughead
https://www.instagram.com/p/BUHoVE3DlWR/?taken-by=archiecomics
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve read an Archie comic, and I don’t watch Riverdale, so I had no idea Jughead’s name was Forsythe! Jughead = not a great baby name. But Forsythe? Yep, I could get on board with that. And I adore the name Archie.
So there you have it! 20 of the coolest, most kick-ass comic book character baby names out there. Are you a comic book fan? Did we pick one of your favorites? Let us know!
