In most species of mammals, animals sleep next to their babies to protect them from danger. In other cultures, humans also sleep next to their babies. Humans are expected to ignore their biological response and sleep away from their children. While spouses are expected to sleep next to each other, children are expected to sleep in a bed in a completely separate room from their parents. Meanwhile, the baby is screaming in their crib because they do not feel protected by their parents. Sleeping next to your children has been compared to your child sleeping next to a knife (and wrongfully so).
