In What Women Want, Mel Gibson stars as Nick Marshall, a misogynistic ad exec. His misogyny has alienated most of the women in his life. At work, he’s passed over for a promotion in favor of Darcy, a woman brought in to help the company appeal more to women. While he’s testing a hairdryer, Nick falls into the bathtub and his electrocuted. When he awakes, he realizes he can hear the thoughts of women. He is advised to use his new gift to help repair the relationships he’s damaged, including the one with his teenage daughter. After using it to hurt Darcy for “stealing†his promotion, he does use it for good.
