Cher Defends Son Chaz Bono Against ‘Stupid Bigots’

Oh, how I love Cher. No matter that her son is a 42-year-adult; if someone attacks her boy, Cher kicks into mama bear mode. And I just love her for it!

In case you haven’t heard, Cher’s son Chaz Bono is a contestant on the new season of Dancing With The Stars, along with the likes of Rob Kardashian and TV hosts Ricki Lake and Nancy Grace. So apparently a bunch of mean people wrote mean things about Chaz, who’s transgender, on the Dancing With The Stars message boards, to which Cher replied via Twitter:

“Chaz is Being Viciously Attacked on Blogs & Message boards about being on DWTS! This is Still America right? It took guts 2 do it.”

“I support him no matter what he chooses 2do! God! will there always be haters! It took COURAGE 2 do dwts ! TG Chaz has an Unlimited supply.”

And then:

“Mothers don’t stop Getting angry with stupid bigots who fk with their children!”

How awesome is Cher? This doesn’t feel like some Hollywood stunt but rather a mother who is truly outraged over her child being attacked (and what kind of mother wouldn’t be?). It is lovely to see.

Meanwhile, Chaz tweeted a nice little note of his own earlier today:

“Thanks for all your support mom. The haters are just motivating me to work harder and stay on DWTS as long as I possibly can.”

The new season of DWTS premiers September 19, and Chaz is paired with 23-year-old Lacey Schwimmer. We wish him best of luck!
