Cheatsgiving: BYOB And Turkey On The Grill

81774079 copyMy Thanksgiving is littered with cheats that make my life easier and add fun to the holiday.

I have each of the grandchildren  make a centerpiece to bring for the tables.  They love to see their creations and have everyone ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ over them.

I plan the menu a week before and prepare as much the day before; like the time consuming cooking and mashing of 10 pounds of potatoes.

My husband does the turkey on the grill.  Two sticks of butter inside and a can of beer poured in the pan.  He does a great job and it turns out perfect every time.  I love to cook, but this is a huge help to have him take care of the meat.

I make everyone responsible for their own beverage.  This keeps me from having to spend my whole day running from person to person filling their drinks.

I put out a tub of unopened clearance toys and gadgets that I have gathered during the year.  The grandchildren love opening the packages and can entertain themselves while I am frantically getting the meal to the table.Using the pre-made graham cracker crust mini pie crusts I make pies with instant pudding and cans of pie filling; topping them off with canned whipped cream.  We end the meal with a pie eating contest (no hands) for anyone brave enough to enter.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
