Celebrities You Didn’t Know Are Battling Medical Conditions
In the early 2000s, Shania Twain was an icon. Her song, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” is still a great karaoke favorite, and the outfits she wore in her videos are still fondly remembered by fans and critics alike. The artist is still writing and recording and performing today, but the past fifteen years or so have been a struggle. Twain contracted Lyme disease in 2003, while on tour, and while she was diagnosed immediately, the disease has continued to haunt her. Most recently, she revealed that Lyme was the root cause of her dysphonia, a vocal disorder that left Twain wondering if she’d ever sing again. Fortunately, she has figured out a warm up routine that lets her perform, but she’ll always be struggling with the lingering effects of Lyme to some degree.
