Cee-Lo Green Proves He Has No Idea What Rape Is By Tweeting ‘People Who Have Really Been Raped Remember’
Just in case you were wondering whether you should continue to support Cee-Lo Green’s music after his recent “no-contest” plea to charges that he allegedly slipped MDMA into a female friend’s drink and then sexually assaulted her – I’m here to tell you No. No you should should not. His loose understanding of what rape is, coupled with some insane tweets about it prove that he is an idiot and possibly a predator. At the very least, he is a gross rape-apologist.
Green was charged last year when a 33-year-old woman told police that he drugged her drink with ecstasy and she woke up next to him in bed the next morning, “naked and unsure of the night’s events.” Green’s lawyer told the Los Angeles Times that they had “consensual relations.” No rape charges were filed due to a “lack of evidence.”
Here is an example of some of the things this very popular musician was waxing poetic about – days after being sentenced to three years of formal probation for “furnishing a controlled substance.”
People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!
Um, no they don’t. Not if they are incapacitated due to the MDMA you just slipped into their drink, you pig.
If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent.
Huh? I don’t even know what this means. Does anyone know what this means? This sentence has no meaning. Green momentarily deleted his Twitter account, but thanks to the internet and a miraculous tool called “screen-capping” his words live on.
He got his ass appropriately handed to him after this inane logic, in the form of a Twitter assault on his rape-apology. He responded to the criticism with this: “I will not allow that negative energy to loiter on my time line u still got it so keep it! I’m deleting this too.” He then deleted his account for a while, but since this morning it’s been reinstated. Okay, Cee-Loo. Whatever.
He then sent a series of tweets saying that his offensive tweets were “taken out of context.” So, clearly, Green does not know what the term “taken out of context” means either. It’s kind of hard to take a complete thought – made in 140 characters – out of context. Here is his weird apology:
Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context.
I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it..
…was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I’d never condone the harm of any women. Thank you.
Rape culture is so pervasive in our society, it’s really good to see people rise up against this kind of ignorance – and fast. Green’s reputation is irreparably damaged, as it should be. As someone who has been a fan since Goodie Mob, I’m sad to hear he’s such a scumbag.
